Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin led a meeting of the National Bureaucratic Reform Steering Committee (KPBRN) at the Vice Presidential Office, Jakarta, Thursday, to discuss approaches to accelerate bureaucratic reforms in central and regional government institutions.

"As chief of the Bureaucratic Reform Steering Committee, I am keen to receive reports linked to bureaucratic reforms today. It is necessary to remember that the president has launched bureaucratic reforms to become the priority of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government," he remarked while opening the meeting.

State Administrative Reform Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati also attended the meeting that began at 9:50 a.m. local time.

The meeting will discuss a plan to streamline the posts of echelon officials at ministries and non-ministerial government institutions.

Minister Kumolo earlier confirmed the receipt of reports from two ministries that had scrapped the posts of echelon II and IV officials.

"For the time being, only the State Administrative Reform Ministry and Finance Ministry (have submitted the reports). Mr Jokowi has targeted to complete (the bureaucratic reform) soon. The sooner it is completed, the better it will be. Since our ministry is small, it could be completed in three weeks," Kumolo stated.

He noted that other ministries, including the State Enterprises Ministry and the Village, Backward Regions and Transmigration Ministry, are in the process of streamlining the posts of echelon I officials.
