Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has appealed to one and all civil servants to fortify their national commitment, as they can evade being exposed to radicalism.

"Their national commitment must be strengthened. As a result, civil servants are not exposed to the notions referred to as radicalism that have spread everywhere," Vice President Amin remarked while receiving a visit from the 2019 best civil servants’ award recipients at the Vice President's Office, Jakarta, Tuesday.

The vice president emphasized that the government should bolster its commitment to tackling radicalism that has become increasingly prevalent lately. Amin affirmed that an incentive or motivation can drive the spirit of civil servants to perform.

"Civil servants are required to be competent and committed to nationality. Thus, the quality of civil servants should be improved continuously," he stated.

One of the endeavors to motivate civil servants is to commend them through the conferment of the best civil servant award. The vice president believed that the category of civil servants award should be expanded.

The vice president is optimistic that the award for these innovative and inspiring civil servants would encourage their colleagues to offer the finest service to community.

"Awarding outstanding civil servants is expected to encourage and motivate all of them to work better," the vice president affirmed.

In the meantime, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB) Minister Tjahjo Kumolo stated that the civil servant award was aimed at enhancing public services.

Furthermore, Kumolo noted that the government will consider expanding the award category, so that bureaucratic improvements can be realized at the earliest.

"This becomes one of the main visions and missions of the government by bestowing awards on civil servants, who are innovative and think way ahead in serving the community well," Kumolo emphasized.
