Bekasi, W Java (ANTARA) - Police shot dead a drug kingpin in Jakarta's eastern outskirts of Bekasi on Wednesday as he tried to snatch a revolver from a police officer. The drug kingpin, identified as Bona Jansen, was shot on his body when the police intended to interrogate him, Chief of the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Resort Senior Commissioner Widjonarko said.

However, when the police were on their way to interrogate him, he tried to snatch a revolver from the police.

"Since he endangered a police officer’s safety, they took firm and measurable action (shot) on his body. He was rushed to hospital but in the morning on Wednesday, February 5, he was pronounced dead," Widjonarko said in a press statement at the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Station Wednesday.

Earlier, police arrested a drug trafficker at RA Kartini Street in East Bakasi Sub-district and confiscated 0.3 gram of crystal meth from him.

While investigating further, police seized 1.2 kilograms (kg) of crystal meth hidden in his rented room at Bambu Kuning Selatan, Bojong Rawalumbu, Rawalumbu Sub-district.

"The drug trafficker admitted to trafficking in one kg of crystal meth for the first time, one kg for the second time, and three kg for the third time. They planned to circulate two kg of crystal meth for the fourth time," he said.
