Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - A doctor working for the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Health Office has been placed under city arrest after being named a suspect in a bribery case related to the procurement of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits.



“As the suspect, Dr. AH, is suffering from a fractured bone, he has been put under city arrest,” chief of the law information section at the South Sulawesi Public Prosecutor's Office, Herman Darmawan, said here on Friday.



"He was put under city arrest after being questioned on Tuesday (January 26, 2021),” he added.



The Public Prosecutor's Office has named two more suspects in the case, identified by their initials as TG and JA, and placed them under custody on charges of bribing Dr. AH.



TG and IA are the director and technical sales officer of PT GL, a supplier of PCR test kits.



Darmawan said TG has been placed under custody at the Kendari correctional facility and IA at the Kendari women’s correctional facility



The Attorney General's Office and the Southeast Sulawesi Public Prosecutor's Office arrested TG and IA in Jakarta on Monday (January 25, 2021).



They were flown to Kendari on Tuesday. The two were named suspects after being questioned, Darmawan informed.



The Public Prosecutor's Office is still investigating the involvement of the three suspects in the bribery case related to the procurement of COVID-19 test kits for the budget year 2020, he said. (INE)
