I encourage the UNS to continue to work in a creative and innovative manner to play its concrete role for the nation and state, particularly by being the government's partner in handling the COVID-19 pandemic
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Marking the 45th anniversary of the State University of Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta, Central Java, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin is upbeat about it partnering with the government to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I encourage the UNS to continue to work in a creative and innovative manner to play its concrete role for the nation and state, particularly by being the government's partner in handling the COVID-19 pandemic," Amin noted during a video conferencing to mark the 45th anniversary of UNS on Friday.

Amin also urged the UNS to help find a solution to restore the national economy battered by the pandemic.

The vice president highlighted the importance of varied breakthroughs based on good, competitive human resources by relying on science and technology for handling the COVID-19 pandemic and for bringing about national economic recovery.

As a state university with a legal entity, known as PTN BH, the UNS has the authority to manage its potential resources on a self-reliant basis, he remarked.

"These all are important to transform the UNS into an excellent state institute of higher learning that has the opportunity and potential to rank among the top 500 universities in the world," he affirmed.

Given the UNS Fintech Center, he encouraged the UNS to promote the financial service sector through digital transformation as the key capital for the university to contribute at the global level.
