Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Bali Provincial Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) Head Putri Suastini Koster said the Disabled Village proposed by Bali Governor Wayan Koster at Bali Cultural Center, Klungkung, will become a special location for disabled in Bali.

"At the Bali Cultural Center that is expected to be completed in 2025, we have planned to provide a special location for our disabled residents, namely the Disabled Village," she stated in Denpasar on Wednesday.

Koster noted that the Disabled Village can help to develop the talent of people with disabilities. She expressed optimism that the assistance given at the Disabled Village would also help them to gain more income.

"For example, deaf children, who can dance, will later be able to perform on stage, even though they cannot listen to the music, but we can train them, so they can dance well according to the music," she remarked.

The plan to develop the Disabled Village was conveyed by Koster in front of the children, who displayed their artistic skills, at the opening of the Bali Disability Artwork Festival at the Bunga Bali Foundation.

Apart from dancing, the Disabled Village will also accommodate space to explore painting and music as well, she noted.

During the art exhibition, Koster lauded donors and foundations that have participated to help people with disabilities in Bali.

She remarked that art activities for children with disabilities to enhance their unique skills are useful for further honing their skills to reap benefits in future.

Through Kampung Difabel, there will be room for people with disabilities to make a living through their skills, she affirmed.

"For this reason, from an early age, we prepare and train disabled children, who can be productive with skills, such as cooking, clothing design, and others. If possible, we will certify them, so that later, they will have the skills to compete in the world of work," she remarked.

In addition, Koster expressed hope that the Disabled Village would also become a shelter for children with no parents, so that they can be cared for and live a decent life in the Gunaksa area, Klungkung.

To this end, she invited all elements, such as donors and foundations, to synergize with the government to help disabled children to grow as independent, strong, and talented people.
