Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa has highlighted three achievements made by the government in relation to housing and infrastructure projects from 2020 to 2022.

"The first achievement is the 1 million flats in cities. In that two-year period (2020–2022), 12,603 rented flats and 302,433 owned flats have been built," he said in an Instagram post.

He made the statement after a meeting with Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

The second achievement is related to the drinking water pipeline project, under which the government aims to lay 10 million house connections.

According to Monoarfa, 3.63 million house connections have been laid to enable the access of households to drinking water.

He informed that the third achievement has been made in the decent and safe sanitation project, with the rate of decent sanitation achievement pegged at 80.92 percent and the rate of safe sanitation at 10.16 percent.

"Collaboration and coordination are the keys to the success of projects, which the government is currently pursuing," the minister said.

In a statement, Minister Hadimuljono said that the government has made water a top priority for national development.

The government has integrated the sustainable development goals (SDGs) with the 2020–2024 Mid-Term National Development Plan to achieve a 100 percent access to drinking water and sanitation.

"Currently, the achievement of drinking water (access) has reached 91.05 percent, and improvement in sanitation access has been capped at 80.92 percent," he informed.
