Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trading over 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Konawe district, Southeast Sulawesi province, on Tuesday evening, a police officer said.

The suspected drug dealer, identified by his initials as JM, was nabbed in the neighborhood of Inolobunggadue village, Unaaha sub-district, Konawe Police chief, Adjunct Sen.Coms.Ahmad Setiadi, said here on Wednesday.

Residents' reports about frequent misuse of addictive drugs in the Inolobunggadue neighborhood area led to JM's arrest, he informed, adding that cops seized 33.50 grams of crystal meth while arresting JM.

Besides the drug package, they also confiscated a digital weighing scale, a cellular phone, and a device used for inhaling crystal meth or "bong" from JM, he said.

After questioning the suspect, police officers found another 4 kilograms of crystal meth that he stored in a building near the place where he was nabbed, Setiadi informed, adding that the police investigators will continue probing the case.

The suspect has been charged under Articles 114 and 112 (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics that can lead to a death sentence.
