Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno has encouraged players in the Indonesian tourism and creative economy sector to take advantage of the decline in flight ticket prices ahead of the school holidays.

"Indonesian tourism and creative economy business players should be able to capitalize on the price decline by offering unique and appealing tour packages at affordable prices," Uno noted in a written statement on Thursday.

"In fact, we will soon enter the school holiday period, when we will see many tourists taking their families on vacation," he remarked.

Citing data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the minister highlighted that the country is experiencing deflation in flight ticket prices after Eid al-Fitr in April 2023.

"The inflationary pressure on the cost of air transportation on a year-on-year (yoy) basis seems to be constantly declining over the last few months," the minister noted.

Uno stated that the price decline applies to all flights in Indonesia, including those to several Indonesian tourist destinations, with prices not exceeding Rp1 million (around US$67).

Highlighting the data, Uno stressed that the trend can be used as an opportunity to revive the economy and create jobs in the tourism and creative economy sectors, as well as the fact that the price decline will coincide with the school holidays.

Furthermore, the minister called on tourists to choose Indonesia's tourist destinations as their holiday destinations.

Such a trend is expected to help the government achieve its target of 1.2-1.4 billion domestic tourist movements this year, he stated.

He said that his ministry continues to collaborate with related parties in the efforts to offer attractive tour packages in the country.

"Therefore, let us participate in reviving the national economy and creating jobs by traveling in Indonesia," he remarked.
