Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono described the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector as the backbone of Jakarta's economy.

"We know that the MSME sector is the economic backbone and economic driver of Jakarta," he said at the Creative MSME Expo organized by the Indonesian Prosecutors Association (Persaja) here on Saturday.

On the occasion, he praised the association and the Co-operatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Ministry for initiating the Creative MSME Expo.

The expo has been organized to support the government's National Economic Recovery (PEN) program and provide a platform for MSME players to promote their products.

Hartono said that he expects the MSME Expo to become a forum for curating flagship products that can increase the businesses' growth and sustainability.

"The synergy between the Jakarta provincial government, the central government, and Persaja needs to be stronger in optimizing the role of MSMEs as drivers of the people's economy," he added.

In addition, he wished the association on its 72nd anniversary and expressed the hope that the organization will keep supporting strategic government programs and community development activities.

"Hopefully, (Persaja) will continue to succeed and be more solid in carrying out noble tasks," he said.

Meanwhile, chief of the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office Reda Manthovani said that the MSME Expo is part of Perjasa's 72nd anniversary event series and the Adhyaksa (Prosecutors) Service Day, which falls on July 22.

In addition to supporting MSME players in promoting their products, he said, the activity aims to bolster the government's efforts to strengthen the PEN program.

It is hoped that the event can increase solidarity and bring the community and the prosecutors together, he added.

"Persaja is expected to shine even more, as the Prosecutor's Office gains greater trust from the public in carrying out its important role in a just and humane country," Manthovani said.
