Jakarta (ANTARA) - An effective archive system can help realize bureaucratic reform in Indonesia, Deputy for Public Services at the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, Diah Natalisa, said here on Wednesday.

"Within the context of bureaucratic reform, it is important for the government to develop an effective archive system, whether in terms of physical infrastructure or related policies and procedures," she explained.

Physical and digital archives act as crucial sources of information and innovation for realizing bureaucratic reform, she explained during a meeting attended by archival leaders from 19 countries with a Muslim majority population at the National Archives of Indonesia (ANRI) office here.

"As a qualitative memory, an archive can describe the greatness of a nation and within the context of bureaucratic reform, a quality archive is able to improve the efficiency of accountability and transparency in national management," she said.

Accurate use of information technology in archiving can expedite the process of activating access and managing archives as a whole.

"Archive became a very important strategic fulfillment for the country's interest and indirectly can encourage the improvement of public service quality," she said.

In this digital information era, the demand for archive management is becoming more complicated.

"Because of this, it is important for us to share the best experience and knowledge in policies, infrastructure, and technology related with archive management through international cooperation, such as the one (carried out) by ANRI," she added.

An archive cooperation forum that will be formed with the 19 Islamic countries could provide an opportunity to develop synergy and collaboration between Islamic countries to support the optimization of archive utilization.

"Collaboration and synergy between Islamic countries became an important media in improving the quality of world-class archive management and utilization," Natalisa said.
