"Exceptional generations are crucial for being well-prepared to adapt to the rapid advancements in time and technology," stated Anindito Aditomo, the head of the ministry's Educational Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency (BSKAP), on Tuesday.
He underscored that the swift technological progress, including artificial intelligence, necessitates the younger generation's ability to adapt to changes.
It is imperative for the younger generation to possess both the willingness and the ability to continuously learn new concepts and explore existing knowledge, he said.
The objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum, which aims to cultivate lifelong learners, are outlined in the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), encompassing key skills, attributes, and competencies.
"In essence, the Pancasila Student Profile comprises a set of skills, attributes, and competencies necessary for an individual to become a lifelong learner," remarked Aditomo.
During the implementation phase, P5 will employ a project-based learning approach that differs from the intracurricular programs typically conducted within classrooms.
"The essence of project-based learning lies in formulating problems and questions, then experiencing the process and learning self-management through the process," he added.
The Head of the Merdeka Curriculum Implementation Working Group of the Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers Association, HM Faojin, confirmed that the Merdeka Curriculum is aligned with the current educational needs, thus demanding a more extensive execution of the program.
The curriculum also empowers teachers to provide tailored learning experiences to students, taking into account their individual characteristics and the resources available within the school environment.
"At the same time, teachers are not confined to merely completing the curriculum; they can also creatively contribute to enhancing students' competencies," highlighted Faojin.
