The measure will be taken solely during the three-day forum and in schools located around ASEAN Summit venues, such as Thamrin, Sudirman, Tanah Abang, Kuningan, and Menteng.
Meanwhile, schools that are far from the ASEAN Summit venue, such as those located in the West and East Jakarta areas, will continue to carry out normal learning activities with 100 percent attendance.
Hartono said that the Jakarta administration will not impose the remote learning policy for three months to curb the severe air pollution that has been choking the city.
However, a remote work policy will be implemented for employees to reduce air pollution in the Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area, which, in the past week, has reached the very bad category.
Earlier, acting head of the Jakarta Communication, Information and Statistics Agency, Sigit Wijatmoko, said that the city will impose the remote working policy for 50 percent of its employees for two months, from August 21 until October 21.
Indonesia, as the chair of ASEAN, has invited 27 world leaders and international bodies to the 43rd summit of the bloc in Jakarta.
The summit will not only bring together the leaders of ASEAN member states, but also external partners, such as China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the United States.
