The 13 agencies are ESCAP, FAO, ILO, IOM, UNDP, UNEP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UN-Habitat, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNOPS, and UN Women.
"These agencies view Nusantara as a living laboratory that gives them the opportunity to create new knowledge in addressing global challenges," Susantono stated at the opening of the 6th Spatial Planning Platform (SPP) Conference held here on Tuesday.
On that occasion, a handover of a Declaration of Intent (DoI) for collaboration took place between the UN and the OIKN in realizing the sustainable development agenda in Nusantara.
The DoI handover was carried out by the UN Resident Coordinator for Indonesia, Valerie Julliand, to the OIKN head.
Julliand explained that the scope of this collaboration includes urban planning and development, including Voluntary Local Reviews (VLR), support for governance mechanisms and policies, support for digitalization, development of master plans, and analysis of various existing potential gaps.
She noted that the collaboration is essential for Nusantara and the UN. Through the collaboration, all good principles, values, norms, and standards can be realized, she said.

Susantono stated that developing a new capital city needs support from several parties, including international organizations.
He emphasized that Nusantara's vision aligns with the principle of the New Urban Agenda adopted in the UN-Habitat III conference in Quito, Ecuador, in 2016.
The OIKN head drew attention to at least three forms of Nusantara’s participation in the global campaign. Firstly, Nusantara is keen to join the global agenda of preserving biodiversity by revitalizing the flora and fauna of Kalimantan.
“We are cooperating with several organizations to develop the Nusantara Nature Positive Plan, which will guide us in creating a sustainable forest city,” he said.
Second, the development of Nusantara will be in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently, Nusantara is preparing a Voluntary Local Review (VLR) and will track the progress of SDGs in the city.
Third, Nusantara will play an active role in the global campaign on the issue of climate change.
Some forms of cooperation established between OIKN and UN agencies comprise the cooperation with UNESCAP for the preparation of a VLR for SDGs in Nusantara and the cooperation with UNICEF for development of Nusantara as a child-friendly city.
The 6th SPP Conference is the first international conference held by OIKN in collaboration with the UN-Habitat, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, the Indonesian Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, and the Indonesian Planning Experts Association.
