Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) has informed that the third phase of groundbreaking at the new national capital (IKN) Nusantara will cover projects ranging from hotels to orangutan conservation.

"President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked for more sectors for the third groundbreaking, including hotel and the equestrian area," OIKN Secretary Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwijaya informed on Tuesday.

In addition, non-ministerial state institutions, namely the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), are also planning to carry out groundbreaking at IKN, he stated.

The third phase of the groundbreaking will also include the development of a conservation area for elderly orangutan species on a special island, he added.

"The President has called for (building) a complete ecosystem in this city," Adiwjijaya said.

Most importantly, the development standards must be in accordance with Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the National Capital and the city must be built based on smart and environmentally friendly schemes, he emphasized.

"In this way, the buildings at IKN will all become iconic buildings for the future generation of Indonesia," he said.

According to Adiwijiaya, the schedule for the third phase of the groundbreaking is still tentative.

The second phase of groundbreaking was carried out in early November 2023 for projects such as schools, hotels, hospitals, and shopping centers, and was witnessed by President Widodo.

The relocation of the nation's capital had been planned since the era of the first Indonesian president Soekarno, and was finally realized during President Widodo's administration.

The shifting of the country's capital from Jakarta to Nusantara is part of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, under which the nation is seeking to increase inclusive national economic growth and involve all components of society.

Moving the country's capital to central Indonesia could become a catalyst for fairer economic distribution and increase the country's economic and social growth.
