Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 10th World Water Forum, scheduled for May next year in Bali, aims to build global awareness of water resources, according to Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

"We are aiming to encourage those involved in water management at all levels to always care about water," he remarked in Jakarta on Sunday.

He affirmed that issues related to water resources should become a concern shared by all parties on the planet.

At the10th World Water Forum, international participating delegates will participate in discussion on thematic, political, and regional processes.

In the thematic process, six sub-themes will be highlighted: water security and prosperity; water for humans and nature; disaster risk reduction and management; governance, cooperation, and hydro-diplomacy; sustainable water finance; and knowledge and innovation.

The forum will also serve as a platform for discussing processes based on different regions of the world --Mediterranean, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and America-- to adjust to diverse challenges being faced by countries in each region.

Meanwhile, the discussion on political processes will take form in meetings at various levels, including heads of state, ministers, lawmakers, regional governments, and river basin authorities.

As quoted from the PUPR Ministry's website, president of the World Water Council, Loïc Fauchon, once stated that the importance of water lies in the fact that humans cannot produce it.

The World Water Forum is the world's largest international forum that focuses on discussing water issues and seeking global solutions to such issues.

The 10th edition of the forum, scheduled on May 18-24, 2024, carries the theme of "Water for Shared Prosperity."

The 2024 World Water Forum in Bali is expected to provide a momentum for international stakeholders to intensify cooperation on water management as well as exchange experience and innovation to overcome related issues globally.
