Subang, West Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that Patimban Port in Subang, West Java, is able to boost development in the Rebana Industrial Zone.

The Rebana Industrial Zone covers the districts of Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Subang, and Sumedang in West Java.

"The Patimban Port is the center of the Rebana Zone development and supports industrial zones in Bekasi, Karawang, and Purwakarta," Hartarto stated while inspecting the Patimban Port phase 1 development here on Wednesday.

Patimban Port, as one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), has an investment value of Rp18.9 trillion (US$1.2 billion) in its first phase and Rp14 trillion (US$890 million) for the second phase.

Minister Hartarto explained that the phase 1 development of Patimban Port includes a container, with a capacity of 250 thousand twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), and a vehicle terminal, with a capacity of 218 thousand completely built-up units (CBU).

"The port area is prepared (to accommodate) 218 thousand (CBU). Last year, it reached 223 thousand (CBU), which is above 100 percent. We hope the capacity would increase and be utilized optimally," he remarked.

Patimban Port is targeted to become fully operational in 2045, with a container capacity of 3.5 million TEUs.

In addition to the port, the government is building the Patimban Access Toll Road connecting the Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road to Patimban Port.

Currently, the toll road development, with an investment value of Rp10 trillion (US$635.9 million), is in the stage of land acquisition, and targeted for completion in 2025.

Hartarto explained that the Patimban Access Toll Road will be able to cut logistics costs in the industrial areas around the port.

"Hopefully, the completion of the access toll road connecting to the Cipali Toll Road would reduce our logistics costs," he stated.
