Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that the implementation of regional autonomy could help Indonesia strengthen education, build proper infrastructure, and promote innovation and cooperation in developing Islamic economy and finance.

"The optimal implementation of regional autonomy can provide us with broad opportunities to actualize inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development," Amin remarked in his speech for the Anugerah Adinata Syariah 2024 event in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday.

Amin believed that the establishment of Islamic economy and finance regional committees and effective synergy between central and regional stakeholders would bring concrete benefits of Islamic economy and finance to regions.

In his speech, the vice president also outlined several directives addressed to regional governments to develop Islamic economy and finance, with one of them being the need to optimize regional autonomy to formulate and implement relevant policies in accordance with local conditions.

"Ensure that Islamic economy and finance are taken into account in medium-term and long-term regional development planning," he told regional governments.

To that end, he urged regional governments to adopt innovative and responsive models of Islamic economy and finance that can relate to the needs of the locals.

The second directive concerns the importance of regional leaders strengthening their support and roles.

"Devise conducive regulations and institutions, such as a local Islamic finance office, and develop supporting infrastructure," he told the regional leaders.

On that note, he urged regions to facilitate micro, small, and medium enterprises to access Islamic financing.

"Promote the development of the halal industry, endorse investment potential of regions, and ensure that logistics and distribution infrastructure are adequate," he added.

Pertaining to the third directive, Amin underscored the need to produce talents capable of stimulating growth of Islamic economy and finance.

"We need to boost literacy and education in order to produce superior human resources in Islamic economy and finance. It is important to forge collaboration to support research and development in featured sectors of Islamic economy," he remarked.
