“I was born and raised in a village, and I hope that the village spirit can inspire efforts to revive cooperatives across the country,” she said during the position handover ceremony at the Ministry of Cooperatives office here on Thursday.
Farichah, who was appointed by President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (September 17), expressed her full support for the President’s programs and readiness to assist Co-ops Minister Ferry Juliantono in advancing the ministry’s agenda.
Despite being newly appointed, she expressed optimism about quickly adapting, thanks to the warm reception from the ministry's staff.
Minister Juliantono welcomed her arrival and expressed optimism in her integrity and capacity. He emphasized the important role of the deputy minister in accelerating policy implementation and strengthening engagement with stakeholders at both central and regional levels.
“Our responsibility is not a burden, but an honor. With determination, hard work, and innovation, we can make the ministry a primary pillar of national economic development,” he said.
He added that the Red and White Village Cooperatives program remains the ministry's focus. Now in the information dissemination or education phase, the program includes loan disbursement mechanisms for regional offices and task forces in the regions.
"By October, village co-ops are expected to begin operating effectively," Juliantono said.
These cooperatives will offer services such as clinics, pharmacies, small grocery stores, and promote local products like rice, oil, and fertilizer.
