Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Nunun Nurbaeti a suspect in connection with alleged bribery linked to the election of Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Miranda Gultom in 2004, the anti-graft body`s chief said.

"Based on a decision taken at the last meeting of KPK leaders, Mrs Nunun Nurbaeti has been named a suspect," KPK Chief Busryo Muqoddas said at a meeting with the House of Representatives` Commission III overseeing among others law enforcement here on Monday.

He said KPK would immediately seek her extradition (from Singapore where she was reportedly staying). When Busyro was about to explain the process of her extradition one of the Commission III members interrupted so that he could not give the explanation.

In several court sessions on the case of traveler`s cheque bribery involving politicians who were former members of House Commission IX Nunun Nurbaeti, who is also the wife of House Commission III member amd former National Police deputy chief Adang Dorojatun, had been mentioned several times as the one who had distributed the traveller`s cheques through Dedhi Makmun Murod.

Nunun gave the cheques through Arie Malangjudo in a restaurant in the Senayan area to Dudhie who claimed that he had been ordered to do it by Panda Nababan, a senior politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP).

Former parliament member Emir Moeis meanwhile said when giving his testimony at the trial of Panda Nababan and friends at the corruption court that he had rejected the cheque given by Dudhie which he suspected was connected with the election of Mirand Goeltom.

Emir, quoting Dudhie, said the cheques were given to former House Commission IX members for 1999-2004 that had worked two days and two nights to select the then Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor.
