London (ANTARA News/Reuters) - A major fire broke out at the London Hilton hotel on Friday evening, forcing 1,500 people to evacuate the 28-storey building overlooking Hyde Park, the city`s fire brigade said.

Police said that no one was injured in the blaze, which the London Fire Brigade said started in the luxury hotel`s basement kitchens, before spreading up through ducts to the second floor.

Around 40 firefighters with eight fire engines were trying to get the blaze under control, a fire brigade spokesman added.
