Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Graft suspect Nazaruddin asked to be moved to the Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta because he felt he was pressured at Mako Brimob police headquarters` detention cell in Depok, West Java, his lawyer said.

"The first questioning has been completed. He asked to be moved to Cipinang so that he could feel free for examinations," Nazaruddin`s lawyer OC Kaligis said after the questioning by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) here on Thursday.

He said that his client had also sent a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asking that his wife and children would not be hurt. He said he was prepared to be punished as heavily as possible, and if need be he was ready to be punished right away without investigation.

In his letter to the president, Nazaruddin, who is former treasurer of the ruling Democrat Party (PD), explained that his wife was only a housewife and was not linked to the party. Therefore, he asked that his wife and children would not be hurt.

In return, Nazaruddin promised that he would not talk anything that could smear the image of the Democrat Party.

Regarding the request of Nazaruddin to be moved, KPK Deputy Bibit Samad Riyanto said his side had not heard the request from the suspect, and that it could not yet be decided whether or not he could be moved to Cipinang.

But Bibit thought that Nazaruddin`s detention at Mako Brimob was already correct because he would be more safer there and owing to the fact that the Cipinang detention was already full capacity.
