Los Angeles (ANTARA News/AFP) - Several people were shot in a restaurant in Nevada on Tuesday, the local sheriff`s office said, as the media reported as many as eight victims.

"We have multiple victims," a Carson City Sheriff`s Office spokeswoman told AFP, without confirming any other details, but adding: "The scene is contained."

The Nevada Appeal newspaper reported that at least eight people were shot in the incident in the International House of Pancakes chain restaurant in Carson City, near Nevada`s border with California.

It said the suspected gunman in the incident, which happened around 9:00 am, was "down," adding that four helicopters had been scrambled to the incident. (*)
