Kabul (ANTARA nEWS/Xinhua-0ANA) - A car bomb went off near a NATO military base in eastern Afghan province of Khost Wednesday morning, the coalition confirmed.

"According to our initial reports this morning insurgents detonated a vehicle-born Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the vicinity of a coalition base in Khost province," a spokesman with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) told Xinhua by phone.

There was no immediate report of casualties in the attack which took place around 8 a.m. local time.

The spokesman said that an investigation was launched into the incident.

Meanwhile, a security official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the blast was a suicide car bombing against the base.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Taliban was suspected of carrying out such attack.(*)
