"No discussion has occurred at this stage that led to the decision."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono keeps monitoring developments in the Korean Peninsula especially North Korea following recent escalation in security situation in the region, a presidential aide said.

"From time to time the foreign minister reports the developments to the President. With regard to decisions that may be taken they will certainly be based on inputs from our representative offices there," presidential special aide for international affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, said here on Tuesday.

He said the government has not yet decided whether or not it would evacuate its diplomatic staff in North Korea.

"No discussion has occurred at this stage that led to the decision," he said.

He said the President however had asked for contingency plans in case immediate actions would be needed.

"So, contingency plans would be made including steps that would be taken in case our representative officials there signal needs for progressive actions," he said.

Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa earlier said Indonesia would not as yet withdraw its diplomatic staff in North Korea despite media reports that Pyongyang would not guarantee the security of foreign missions after April 10.

He said he kept communicating with the ambassador in North Korea who keeps assessing developments in the country.

Security situation in the Korean region has escalated after North Korea declared war against South Korea.

North Korea that has become angry due to UN sanctions and continued US-South Korea military exercises has issued threats of a nuclear war in the past weeks.

On Thursday morning, North Korea stated that it had received a final say for a military action against the US involving nuclear weapons.

According to several media reports, North Korea said it would no longer guarantee the security and safety of foreign missions in Pyongyang after April 10.

North Korea has urged Britain, Russia and several other European countries to evacuate their diplomatic staff members in the midst of nuclear tension in the region.
