Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono received French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius who is visiting Indonesia here on Friday and he expressed the country`s readiness to increase cooperation in various fields with France.

"The bilateral relations between Indonesia and France could still be further developed. On our part we are ready to cooperate to realize the targets of strategic partnership that have been agreed upon," he said.

In the meeting Laurent Fabius was flanked by French ambassador to Indonesia Corrine Breuze and Indonesia`s foreign minister Marty Natalegawa.

Vice President Boediono said that for Indonesia cooperation and world economic interaction is a necessity. On trade he said it is also impossible for Indonesia to watch all its coasts which are very long.

Besides investment Indonesia also needs capital as well as technology, the vice president said.

From time to time there are always people who keep saying that Indonesia is deviating from its long-term position, he said.

However, he added, that Indonesia is not the only one that tells about small nationalism in the economic field.

He said it is normal for countries to take the position in view of the current uncertainty in the world.

"From the beginning Indonesia has always been in the spectrum of open trade," he said.

The vice president said that Indonesia has also been affected by the world`s economic slowdown and increasing uncertainty in the world`s financial system.

He said however there is also a factor that helps reduce the negative impact of the situation namely the country`s domestic market which is very significant.

Minister Fabius on the occasion said that he also brought a letter from President Francois Hollande to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono containing calls for increased cooperation in five fields namely trade and investment, education, defense industry, culture and tourism and climate change.

President Hollande also expressed his wish to meet with President Yudhoyono during the G-20 meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, in September this year. ***1***
