Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has allocated Rp235 billion for natural disaster mitigation in 2015, according to disaster victims social protection director Margowiyono.

"The fund consists of the central governments allocation in 34 provinces for, among other things, disaster victims logistics and buffer stock," Margowiyono said here on Monday.

He explained that although natural disaster mitigation has been the central governments concern, the regional governments also should allocate funds from their respective budgets.

"It is because natural disaster mitigation is the responsibility of not only the central government but also the regional governments," he noted.

Margowiyono remarked that if a regional government can handle natural disasters, then the central government will no longer need to intervene.
