Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry has said that it is still working on the Indonesia Quality Tourism Fund (IQTF) program. "The process of this endowment fund for tourism is still running," an official from the ministry, Nia Niscaya, informed here on Monday.
She said that the IQTF will amount to around Rp2 trillion or around US$123.5 million, and will be funded through the 2025 state budget.
The IQTF will be used to support tourism events that can attract international tourists to the country.
At present, the government is working on a regulation to support quality tourism in Indonesia.
Earlier, after attending an internal meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Monday, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that the President has given a directive to allocate Rp2 trillion for the IQTF program.
Uno added that Widodo has asked the ministry to complete the related regulation by August 2024.
IQTF is an endowment fund program that aims to support tourism activities that have the potential to attract tourists, increase tourist visits, and boost economic growth in tourist destinations.
