Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the National Police (Polri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has said that public criticism and suggestions motivate the National Police to grow and improve.

Speaking at the 79th National Police Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, General Prabowo said that Polri is not yet perfect, and therefore, he understands the public’s inputs for the institution.

He added that criticism and feedback from the people push Polri to grow and carry out improvements.

“We are committed to the belief that every piece of public feedback is a form of support for us to continue growing, adapting, and implementing continuous improvements,” he said.

The continuous improvements, he added, are aimed at achieving a noble goal: to bring the police closer to the people.

He noted that the journey toward realizing the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045 will be a long and challenging one. However, he expressed optimism that the vision will be achieved through collaboration among all stakeholders.

“We are fully confident that this noble aspiration can be achieved through the synergy of all components of the nation,” he said.

Polri, he informed, is also actively contributing to the national goal of becoming a global food barn by participating in initiatives such as the food security program and establishing nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs) for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the National Police have an important role in Indonesia’s economic development.

“Political stability and security are the pre-requisites for the nation’s progress, and the police’s strategic role is to create a sense of security, legal certainty, and oversee economic development in the country,” he added.
