Denpasar (ANTARA) - Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) at Benoa Harbor strengthens Bali's status as a premium maritime tourism destination.

"The development concept for the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub is very strategic," Widiyanti noted in a written statement in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.

The cruise ship and yacht infrastructure will support an increase in international tourist visits.

According to the BMTH development map, the pier, capable of accommodating cruise ships, has a total length of 1,100 square meters.

The pier can also accommodate three large cruise ships simultaneously, as was demonstrated on February 21.

There are three cruise ship passenger terminal buildings, with a total terminal capacity of up to nine thousand passengers.

Additionally, a 57,400-square-meter yacht pier is under development, with a capacity of approximately 275 yachts.

Widiyanti expressed her appreciation for the initiative to develop BMTH as a center for national maritime tourism growth.

She also expressed hope for support from all parties for the area's development.

Meanwhile, state-owned port operator Pelindo Strategy Director Drajat Sulistyo remarked that BMTH's development is the state-owned company's contribution to supporting regional economic transformation through the tourism sector.

"BMTH is not just a port but a center for marine tourism activities, integrated with logistics, shipping, and tourism infrastructure. We remain committed to realizing this area as an international-standard maritime hub," Drajat remarked.

He noted that the tourism minister's visit to Benoa Port, Denpasar, Bali on Friday, July 18, underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in supporting the acceleration of national tourism, particularly by strengthening the competitiveness of marine-based destinations, such as those being developed at BMTH.

Benoa Port recorded 38 cruise ships docking over 50 thousand international tourists during the first half of 2025.

By comparison, in 2024, the port saw 59 cruise ships arrive, carrying an estimated 103 thousand international tourists.
