Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Denpasar city government, Bali, and the Laamu Atoll Council, Maldives, are exchanging knowledge and good governance practices.
Denpasar Deputy Mayor, I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa, made the announcement while receiving an official visit from a 10-person delegation led by Laamu Atoll Council President Ismail Ali at Graha Sewaka Dharma Lumintang, Denpasar, on Tuesday.
They will be in Denpasar for four days, from August 19 to 22, with visits to the Denpasar city public service mall, Denpasar city government Radio FM for the Raditya program, and Serangan Village with its program on turtle conservation.
"This visit is part of a collaboration between the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) and the Laamu Atoll Council, Maldives, to increase capacity, share experiences, and promote the regions," he said.
He outlined the various development programs implemented by the Denpasar city government, under the vision of a Creative, Culture-Based Denpasar Towards a Developed Denpasar.
According to him, the spirit of Weda Wakya Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or menyama braya, which means "The whole world is one family," serves as the foundation for synergy in infrastructure and creative economy development, arts and culture preservation, and empowerment of micro, small and medium enterprises.
"Through this Graha Sewaka Dharma public service center, we want to showcase Denpasar's integrated service system," he said.
The delegation will engage in discussions focused on four key areas: governance, community engagement, sustainable tourism, and community-based waste management.
Meanwhile, the President of Laamu Atoll Council, Ismail Ali, expressed his appreciation for the Denpasar city government's welcome. He expressed the hope that Denpasar's experience in public service and tourism development could be relevant for the Maldives, particularly in areas like sustainable tourism practices and community engagement.
"We are grateful for the warm welcome. Through this visit, we hope to strengthen our cooperative relationship and share experiences in local government management. We also invite the Deputy Mayor to visit Laamu Atoll, Maldives," he stated.
He also expressed the hope that the visit would serve to exchange knowledge and good practices between the Denpasar city government and the Laamu Atoll Council, thereby strengthening governance, increasing community participation, and encouraging sustainable development.
