Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs has developed an evaluation mechanism to ensure that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) innovations aligns with AI ethics.
The evaluation mechanism is outlined in the AI Ethics Guidelines currently being drafted by the government, through an incident reporting system aimed at encouraging self-assessment by AI developers.
“The evaluation of the ethical guidelines will be carried out gradually to ensure ethical and responsible AI governance,” the ministry's Director of AI and New Technology Ecosystems, Aju Widya Sari, told ANTARA here on Friday.
In addition to the evaluation mechanism, the government is also preparing a detailed report for the National AI Roadmap, which is being developed alongside the AI Ethics Guidelines to ensure the ethical growth of national AI development.
These regulations are being prepared by the government because, according to Sari, policy harmonization in the AI development industry is key to ensuring that AI innovation grows in line with the global AI ethics.
Ethical values in AI development are also outlined in the draft of the AI Ethics Guidelines. This aspect is considered important as it serves as a reflection to help AI developers understand that the development, implementation, and utilization of AI have implications on fundamental human rights.
Some of the AI ethical principles or values include inclusiveness, humanity, safety, accessibility, transparency, credibility, accountability, personal data protection, sustainable development and environment, and intellectual property rights.
When AI developers implement ethical values, at least three key benefits can be achieved, which are economic sustainability, social sustainability, and environmental sustainability.
AI can boost innovation and promote economic growth, support equal public services, and optimize resource allocation.
