Probolinggo, East Java (ANTARA) - The East Java Regional Police are investigating a deadly traffic accident that killed eight passengers on a bus carrying employees from Bina Sehat Hospital (RSBS) on Jalan Raya Bromo, Probolinggo District, on Sunday.

Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the East Java Regional Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Septa Firmansyah, said a joint team has been deployed to conduct a Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) to determine the cause.

“With TAA, we can trace the bus’s speed and the final seconds before it stopped. We used 10 analysis points. The results will be available within three days,” he explained.

Officers also carried out a 3D scan to detail the incident involving the bus, which was carrying 52 passengers.

“The accident did not involve many vehicles, so the crime scene investigation results will be ready within three days. During the investigation, traffic flow at the site will be completely closed,” he added.

According to initial police information, the Hino IND'S 88 bus with license plate P-7221-UG—driven by Al Bahri and assisted by Mergi—reportedly lost control while traveling east.

It veered off the road, struck a guardrail, and collided with a motorcycle (license N-2856-OE). Police have not yet confirmed whether brake failure or another mechanical problem caused the crash.

Eight people were killed, and others suffered serious or minor injuries. Victims were treated at Dr. Saleh Regional Hospital, Ar-Rozy Hospital, Tongas Hospital, Sukapura Community Health Center, Lumbang, and Wonomerto.

Eight bodies and 15 injured victims were transported by 23 ambulances to RSBS in Jember District.

Two victims remain hospitalized at Dr. Moh. Saleh Regional Hospital and Tongas Hospital in unstable condition.

Three of the eight who died were members of the same family: Hendra Pratama, an RSBS employee, along with his wife and child.
