Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The Denpasar City Government in Bali is preparing funding to strengthen the economy for traders and business owners affected by the recent floods in the city.
Denpasar Mayor I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara announced the plan after declaring the de-escalation of the disaster emergency status in Denpasar on Tuesday (September 16).
He said the assistance will be distributed after verification and validation using the Denpasar Population Identification Number.
The amount of economic aid will depend on the type of damage, based on calculations by a verification team formed by the city government, he added.
"We are committed to assisting business owners, especially MSMEs, affected by the floods in Denpasar City," he stated.
Negara emphasized that the assistance is part of ongoing efforts to support economic strengthening and recovery after the disaster.
"We hope this economic stimulus will help business owners and MSMEs get back on their feet," he said.
The mayor explained that aid for businesses and MSMEs will be allocated from the Denpasar City Regional Budget (APBD).
Meanwhile, merchants at Badung Market and Kumbasari Market will receive direct assistance from the Bali Provincial Government, led by Governor Wayan Koster.
"We are working with the Governor and the Bali Provincial Government to assist Badung and Kumbasari Markets. Hopefully, businesses and the economy will recover," he noted.
The Denpasar City Government has downgraded the Disaster Emergency Response status from Emergency Transition to Recovery for a three-month period, from September 17 to December 17, 2025.
During this period, the city will focus on recovery in education, infrastructure, health, and economic revitalization.
The disaster struck after Bali was drenched by more than 24 hours of heavy rain beginning Tuesday (September 9).
On September 10, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded flooding and landslides across 123 locations in seven districts and cities: Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, Tabanan, Klungkung, Karangasem, and Jembrana.
