Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The local governments of Indonesia’s Tangerang District and China’s Binzhou City have agreed to strengthen cooperation in tourism, culture, creative economy, and human resource development, officials said on Wednesday.

The agreement was reached during a meeting in Tangerang attended by Deputy Regent Intan Nurul Hikmah, Binzhou Deputy Mayor Qu Yuekuan, and members of the Indonesia–China Business Council (ICBC) Jakarta.

“This is a strategic step to deepen international collaboration and explore opportunities across key sectors,” Intan said.

The discussion focused on expanding cooperation in promoting tourism and cultural exchange, developing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and enhancing youth skills through education, training, and exchange programs.

“We hope this visit inspires sustainable and practical cooperation,” Intan added, expressing optimism that the partnership would build stronger people-to-people ties and long-term benefits for both regions.

Qu described Tangerang as a valuable strategic partner due to its growing human capital, geographic position, and economic potential.

“Binzhou has strong industrial capacity in manufacturing, fisheries, and agriculture,” Qu said.

“Through closer ties with Tangerang, we aim to exchange knowledge, create business opportunities, and support sustainable development,” he added.

Both sides agreed to continue dialogue through technical forums and follow-up programs designed to deliver concrete outcomes.

Intan noted that the meeting could lay the foundation for long-term collaboration in regional economic growth, global competitiveness, and investment promotion.

“This cooperation opens the door to broader partnerships that can generate shared prosperity,” she said.

The initiative is part of Tangerang's broader efforts to enhance its international engagement and attract investment by building partnerships that support innovation, cultural exchange, and inclusive development.
