Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to expand its “Choose Jakarta” initiative to several major global cities, including Tokyo, London, and New York.
The move is part of the Jakarta Global City Branding program, aimed at strengthening the city’s image and identity as an emerging global metropolis.
The “Choose Jakarta 2025” program, held at Galerie Joseph in Paris from October 8 to 11, 2025, featured more than 20 curated business participants from the fashion, culinary, and craft sectors.
They showcased Jakarta’s signature creative products and cultural identity to the international audience.
Head of the Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, expressed optimism that Jakarta’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) can compete in global markets.
She emphasized that the initiative seeks to ensure Jakarta’s products are not only competitive domestically but also gain recognition in European and international markets.
Through this initiative, the Jakarta Government aims to build collaborative bridges that help local MSMEs grow, embrace digital transformation, and expand globally.
“Choose Jakarta 2025” is part of a continuous program designed to promote Jakarta’s creative potential and enhance the competitiveness of its MSMEs on the world stage.
In addition to product exhibitions, the event featured business forums and matching sessions, thematic discussions, trunk shows, and Betawi cultural performances that drew strong visitor interest.
Ratu said she hopes the initiative will strengthen networks among entrepreneurs, artists, and designers while opening doors for long-term partnerships with international stakeholders, including buyers, curators, and investors.
She also noted that the event is expected to deliver tangible economic benefits for Jakarta’s MSMEs, broaden export opportunities, and enhance the city’s reputation as a center of creative innovation in Southeast Asia.
She added that support from the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, the Indonesian diaspora, and international partners underscores Jakarta’s role not only as a national economic hub but also as a symbol of cultural collaboration and global creativity.
