Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has voiced strong support for Open University’s (UT) efforts to strengthen the nation’s science and technology ecosystem, calling the institution a key partner in advancing innovation and public access to knowledge.
“UT is our partner and part of us. It is no longer just collaboration — we must work hand in hand to advance science and technology in Indonesia,” said Yudi Darma, the ministry’s director of Science and Technology Dissemination and Utilization, on Thursday.
Speaking at the 5th International Seminar of Science and Technology (ISST) at UT’s campus in South Tangerang, Banten, Darma said the ministry welcomes higher education institutions that promote the dissemination of science and technology to the wider public.
He said events like ISST help bridge science and society, allowing the academic community to showcase research and technological innovation.

“We truly appreciate and support activities like this, where universities bring science and technology closer to the people,” Darma said.
He stressed that embracing science and technology is essential to building a brighter, more prosperous future. This effort, he added, aligns with the government’s commitment to strengthening research and innovation for social, environmental, and economic progress.
“We cannot ignore the vital role of science and technology in creating a better future for our people,” he said.
UT Vice Rector for Finance, Resources, and General Affairs Adrian Sutawijaya said advancing science and technology is central to the university’s academic and research agenda.
“Without science and technology, we cannot achieve much. We hope this partnership brings positive results, and moving forward, we will introduce innovations not only in dissemination but also in intellectual property rights and patents,” he said.
