Tabanan, Bali (ANTARA) - Tabanan District Head I Komang Gede Sanjaya appointed top Indonesian musician Nazril Irham, widely known by his stage name Ariel (NOAH), as the official tourism ambassador for Tabanan, Bali, aiming to boost local tourism ahead of the city’s 532nd anniversary celebrations.

The announcement came during the opening of the Singasana Fun Run on Sunday at Taman Bung Karno, marking the start of the anniversary events. Sanjaya said Ariel Noah’s appointment is expected to attract more visitors to the region.

“By choosing Ariel Noah as our tourism ambassador, we hope to increase visitor numbers significantly,” Sanjaya said, opening the Fun Run with the traditional chant Om Awighnam Astu Nama Sidham.

The celebration, themed “Mula Jayaning Singasana,” also featured appearances by national celebrities Christian Sugiono and Titi Kamal. Sanjaya expressed gratitude to participants and artists for supporting the event.

Ariel Noah said he was impressed by Tabanan’s warm and energetic community.

“It’s my first time joining a Fun Run here, and the energy is incredible. The people are friendly, and the atmosphere is very positive,” said this lead vocalist of the Indonesian band NOAH.

He highlighted Tabanan’s natural tourism potential, noting its beaches, mountains, and cool climate as assets for development.

“Tabanan has a perfect combination of beauty, climate, and hospitality. I hope more Indonesians come to experience it firsthand,” Ariel said.

The anniversary, culminating on November 29, will include social, cultural, and environmental activities such as city cleanups, tree planting, sidewalk painting, home renovations, and cultural festivals. ​​​​​​​

Sanjaya said the events aim to strengthen community ties and promote healthy living.

The Fun Run began with a ceremonial flag-raising by Sanjaya, his wife Rai Wahyuni Sanjaya, and local officials, followed by the release of 500 tridatu-colored balloons and 32 birds, symbolizing the official start of the celebrations.

Dozens of local micro, small, and medium enterprises also participated, contributing to Tabanan’s economic activity. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Sanjaya said the anniversary events foster unity, regional pride, and a sense of civic responsibility among residents.
