Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has intensified monitoring and mitigation measures for its migrant workers in the Middle East following escalating tensions triggered by U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran, a cabinet minister said on Tuesday.

Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Mukhtarudin said the government activated crisis management protocols at the onset of the escalation and is conducting daily monitoring with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian missions across the region.

"The state is not waiting for the situation to deteriorate," Mukhtarudin said in a press statement received on Tuesday.

The Ministry of P2MI has established a Geopolitical Crisis Monitoring Team to update data on Indonesian migrant workers in affected countries, including Qatar, and to track potential security risks.

High-risk zones are being continuously mapped to support rapid mitigation measures for workers near vulnerable areas, he said.

Indonesian migrant workers have been urged to avoid conflict zones and dangerous areas and to relocate to safer locations if necessary.

The ministry has also strengthened complaint channels to anticipate reports of security threats, delayed wages, termination of employment, and requests for repatriation.

Intensive coordination is underway with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian missions in Tehran, Riyadh, Doha, and Abu Dhabi to synchronize data and prepare contingency plans.

Evacuation simulations and options for a temporary suspension of worker placements to high-risk areas have also been prepared, Mukhtarudin said.

"We are preparing multiple scenarios based on factual information and the precautionary principle," he added.

The ministry has tightened supervision of non-procedural placements through cyber patrols and enhanced digital literacy efforts to prevent the spread of unverified information.

The ministry urged Indonesian migrant workers in the Middle East to remain calm, follow official instructions from Indonesian missions, and immediately report emergencies through official channels.
