Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) urged the youth to become agents of change in the digital space, urging them to produce positive and inspiring counter-narratives.

"We are fully committed to supporting every innovative step taken by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs," BNPT Chief Eddy Hartono said when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

He underscored that all stakeholders must collaborate to nurture young creative communities, as they are the most vulnerable to radical infiltration through social media and digital platforms.

In this regard, he emphasized that early prevention through enhanced digital literacy is vital.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening protection for children.

According to him, Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on Electronic System Governance for Child Protection (PP Tunas) serves as a key instrument in providing digital literacy education grounded in national values and moderation.

Moving forward, the BNPT and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will enhance several strategic measures.

These include integrating national resilience content into the national digital literacy program, improving coordination in monitoring and cracking down on radical content, and empowering young creative communities to produce positive counter-narratives.

"We also need to speed up monitoring and enforcement so that the process of taking down radical terrorist content can be more responsive and accurate," Hartono said.

The BNPT chief emphasized the importance of cross-agency synergy in safeguarding the digital space from the threats of radicalism and terrorism, particularly for children as a vulnerable group.

He expressed his appreciation for the issuance of PP Tunas as a response to the needs of the nation and the public in the digital era.

Furthermore, he also lauded the involvement of the private sector in supporting the government regulation, such as the online game platform Roblox, which has implemented an age verification system to comply with Indonesia's rules.
