... Indonesia has called on both sides to stay calm and maintain the utmost restraint."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Ministry has urged South Korea (ROK) and North Korea (DPRK) to maintain peaceful conditions in the Peninsula region.

"In view of the recent exchange of fire and military tensions in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on August 20, Indonesia has called on both sides to stay calm and maintain the utmost restraint," the ministry said in press release received on Monday.

The ministry added that both countries should also make efforts to reduce tensions and maintain a conducive situation for peace, stability and development of the region.

Indonesia has also called for the immediate resumption of dialogue and other non-traditional efforts to intensify communication between DPRK and ROK.

"Indonesia is following the latest developments in the Korean Peninsula closely," the Ministry added.

Previously, the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul had ordered Indonesian nationals in ROK to avoid border areas following an exchange of fire across the border on Thursday.
