"The helicopter for the president is not bulletproof, and it is not for a VVIP," General Nurmantyo noted in a meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives here on Monday.
On the occasion, Nurmantyo delivered a primary weaponry defense system (Alutsista), which is generally needed for the military to guarantee the security of the country.
In addition, the Indonesian Military also needs to purchase Alutsista to improve the countrys defense based on its vision to become a global maritime axis.
"Indonesia, as a global maritime axis, has greater access to both water and air. So, the military should have air and sea superiority," he affirmed.
Therefore, the military should improve its surveillance systems in both water and air, he remarked.
"Indonesia needs submarines to guard the three main entrances of its waters as well as combat and heavy transport aircraft to protect its airspace," he added.(*)
