Radicalism must be prevented through education and good security measures and good intelligence."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla said he was shocked to hear about the brutal terrorist attacks in Paris, France, on Friday evening that have killed more than 120 people.
"As the President has said, Indonesia is shocked and certainly condemns all such acts. We have had such an experience (ourselves)," he said at Halimperdanakusuma airport on Saturday after seeing off President Joko Widodo who left for Turkey to attend the G20 summit.
Regarding what Indonesia would contribute with regard to the Paris incident, Kalla said the government had not yet made any decision because it did not yet know what had really happened.
He said, however, that Indonesia could at the least extend moral support to France.
"We do not know what is really happening. Who was behind it and why? Certainly, we can give moral support because Indonesia has had the same experience but certainly, security must be tightened," he said.
Kalla said the need of the hour was to better anticipate any such acts to deal with radicalism and terrorism in the future.
"Radicalism must be prevented through education and good security measures and good intelligence," he said.
