Palembang (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara expressed hope that members of the Indonesian Television Journalist Association (IJTI) would do better news reporting.

The grouping is a forum to produce professional journalists, Rudiantara stated in his opening remarks at the Asian and Pacific Television Journalists Conference, here, Thursday.

He lauded the organizations commitment to promoting peace journalism, which is also the main topic of discussion during the regional conference.

Rudiantara believed that the IJTI has helped to improve the quality of news reporting.

The minister informed that the government had planned to revise the law on broadcasting.

He invited the IJTI to convey some proposals for the revision.

The television journalists from ten countries are participating in the Asia-Pacific conference organized by the IJTI in Palembang, South Sumatra, on November 19-21, 2015.

The foreign participants are from Malaysia, Singapore, India, the Philippines, China, Timor Leste, and Australia, among others, Ardiansyah, the chairman of the IJTI South Sumatra, stated here, Thursday.

He remarked that the participants will discuss about peace journalism during the meeting.

In addition, the IJTI conference is expected to increase understanding on peace journalism among television reporters.

On the sidelines of the discussions, the participants will be invited to undertake a sightseeing tour of Palembang and the surrounding areas to gain a firsthand glimpse of the various tourist attractions, including the historical landmarks.
