Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - The Bandung-Jakarta rapid train will use the driverless technology and a safety index level IV from China, the Director of the Indonesia-China Rapid Railways, Hanggoro, said on Thursday.

"Although driverless, there are still officers in charge of opening and closing the door, supervising the passengers, and monitoring conditions on the track," Hanggoro said.

He said the safety index level IV technology has several advantages, and therefore no more room for accidents that are caused by human error.

"The safety index level IV technology is of the highest level in the world, and so far only China has been applying the technology. All actors are taken into account so that there is no space for human errors," he said.

According to him, the train-control technology in Indonesia is used for the installation of ATP (automatic train protection), which is a technology that can automatically control the train and help avoid breaking the signal.

Currently, he said, the management continues to improve the capabilities of human resources, who are involved in manufacturing the Bandung-Jakarta rapid train.

He added that the ground breaking development of the Bandung-Jakarta rapid train project will be conducted in April 2016.

"The development of fast trains are expected to bring benefit to the whole community," Hangggoro, said.(*)
