Jokowi was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Environmental Affairs Minister Siti Nurbaya, and Chief of the Presidential Staff Teten Masduki during the visit.
While speaking at the COP21, or the Paris Climate Change Conference earlier, the president expressed hope that an ambitious agreement would be reached during the climate meeting in Paris to make the earth a better place and to improve the peoples welfare.
"Reaching an agreement in Paris is a must. I hope we are all part of a solution to make the earth a more convenient place for our children and grandchildren," Jokowi told 147 heads of state and government at the Leaders Event here on Monday.
He remarked that the Paris climate agreement should reflect balance and justice in line with the nations priorities and capabilities and should be sustainable though not posing a hurdle in the growth of developing countries.
"In order to reach an agreement in Paris, all countries, especially developed nations, should contribute to the actions of mitigation and adaptation," he added.
The contribution could be through the mobilization of financing worth US$100 billion until 2020 to be increased in the following years, with transfer of environmentally friendly technologies and capacity expansion.
As one of the countries with the largest forests that serve as the lungs of the world, Indonesia chose to be part of a solution, the president pointed out.
"I am here to give strong political support for the success of the COP21," he added.
The COP21 and the eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) are taking place between November 30 and December 11, 2015, in Paris.
The 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference will, for the first time in over 20 years of UN negotiations, aim to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below two degree Celsius.
President Jokowi is scheduled to return home on Tuesday. (*)
