The canister containing the documents of Indonesia`s dreams for the 2015-2085 period was planted after being carried 24,089 kilometers across the country`s 34 provinces since September 22, 2015.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - After seven decades of development, Indonesia has placed its dreams for another 70 years in a time capsule, which will be opened by the future generation in 2085.
Containing seven wishes that reflect the aspirations of the people in the countrys 34 provinces, the "Time Capsule 2085" was planted by Indonesias seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Hapsana Sai Square, Merauke, Papua, on Wednesday.
Before planting the time capsule, President Jokowi placed in it Indonesias aspirations that had been gathered from across the country by the capsule expedition team. The time capsule program was launched in Jakarta by State Secretary Pratikno last September.
Its expedition team began their journey from "point zero" located in Weh Island in Aceh on the western tip of the country and traveled across 187 cities and 34 provinces before arriving in Merauke in the easternmost Province of Papua on Dec. 21. It will remain there until Indonesias 140th anniversary on Aug. 17, 2085, or 70 years from now.
"The Time Capsule 2085 expedition is an effort to collect the hopes and dreams of the people across the archipelago, especially from places that have the potential to highlight their arts and culture in tourism," Tourism Minister Arief Yahya was quoted as saying by the Jakarta Globe last October 14.
President Jokowi summarized the aspirations in seven wishes and listed them on a piece of paper, which he placed inside the time capsule before he planted it at the Hapsana Sai Square.
Before placing it into the capsule and planting it, President Jokowi called on two elementary students --- Laher Fabiola Ogilin, a 11-year-old female sixth grader from "Hati Kudus" Elementary School in Merauke, and Lois Ferdinand, a 11-year-old male student from the same school --- to read out Indonesias dreams.
The students, accompanied by President Jokowi, took turns to read out the 7-point wishes on stage, which are: Indonesias human resources will have intelligence higher than that of other nations in the world; the Indonesian community will uphold and respect pluralism, culture, religion, and ethics; Indonesia will become the center of education, technology, and world civilization; the community and government officials will shun corruption; infrastructure is developed evenly across Indonesia; Indonesia will become a self-reliant and influential country in the Asia-Pacific region; and Indonesia will become the barometer of economic growth in the world.
The canister containing the documents of Indonesias dreams for the 2015-2085 period was planted after being carried 24,089 kilometers across the countrys 34 provinces since September 22, 2015.
The aspirations have been collected from the westernmost to the easternmost points of the country, according to Nick Nurachman, the executive coordinator of the event.
The time capsule was planted permanently at the Time Capsule of Indonesia Dreams for 2015-2085 Monument.
Earlier, in 2015, President Jokowi launched a "Lets Work" national campaign from Indonesias westernmost zero kilometer point in Sabang, Aceh, to emphasize the importance of commitment and hard work to optimize the countrys potentials.
The president also documented his dreams and hopes, which are part of the Time Capsule Monument of Indonesian Dreams 2015-2085.
The time capsule is expected to inspire every individual and family in Indonesia to dream as high as the sky for the glory and welfare of the nation.
Men from Indonesias creative younger generation hailed the call and organized the "Time Capsule Expedition," a unique idea in history to collect the penned dreams of the public from across the countrys provinces as an initial step to motivate the nation to forge ahead.
This is also part of the "Lets Work" national campaign launched to mark the 70th anniversary of Indonesias independence.
According to Abdee Negara, one of the initiators, a dream is an important element in life.
"We must harbor dreams to be able to work with high spirit. This expedition is a mission to gather and integrate the dreams of all the people of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke and unite them in a common dream to encourage the countrys younger generation to work and fight to fulfill their dreams, which are Indonesias dreams," he affirmed.
Jay Wijayanto, who is also the coordinator of the activity, remarked that President Jokowi had received and studied the penned dreams of 238 people from across 34 provinces in the country.
A national committee, regional committees, the community, mass organizations, community figures, school students, and regional governments across the country are part of the expedition.
The expedition, in its 90-day journey, has received a warm welcome on arrival in each province, thereby demonstrating the peoples enthusiasm to entrust their dreams, which will be made public in 2085.(*)
