The government would very soon be able to solve the problem of the rising food prices that have been burdening the public.
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said the meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Agriculture Minister and Trade Minister, among others.
The president ordered immediate action to address the issue. "Certainly, something needs to be improved in this mechanism. It is possible that the situation could have resulted because of the imposition of 10 percent tax on food sales or because of other things," he said.
The government wants to see stability in food prices to prevent a decline in the publics purchasing power.
Anung said the government has cut the number of food sale chains in order to reduce prices.
The government will find a comprehensive solution to bring down the prices of such food items as chicken and beef. Prices of these items increased significantly lately.(*)
