Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A national meeting of the United Development Party (PPP) has recommended a reconciliatory congress to end its internal conflict.

"A congress should be organized in April 2016 at the latest, after holding a national working congress," Deputy Chairman of the Bandung-congress PPP Suharso Monoarfa said when reading the recommendation on Saturday evening.

The organizer of the congress should be the Bandung-congress PPP which is the only PPP version recognized by the government and the PPP leadership existing before the conflict, he said.

The preparations and implementation of the next congress will be supervised by the partys tribunal and senior politicians who are actively following the PPP developments, he added.

However, Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Djan Faridz earlier ruled out a possibility of organizing a reconciliatory congress.

"Who will organize a reconciliatory congress? It is against the law as there is already a verdict issued by the Supreme Court (MA)," Faridz noted in a short text message recently.

Faridz stated that such a congress would violate the verdict according to which the legal leadership of PPP was under him as the partys general chairman.

He declared that his party has now joined other parties that support the government.

The decision to support the government is based on the results of a national leadership meeting of the PPP organized on January 29, 2016, following a recommendation issued by PPP Syariah Council Chairman Maimun Zubair.

Faridz, who initially joined the opposition coalition, said the party has declared its support to the government following MAs verdict that recognized his leadership.

The PPP has been split into two leadership camps between Faridz and his rival, Muhammad Romahurmuziy, who has had a pro-government approach since the beginning.

However, the MA ordered the annulling of the Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasona Laloys decree on the governments recognition of Romahurmuziys leadership.

The verdict only recognized the previous PPP leadership resulted from the Bandung Congress in 2011.(*)
