ADB would provide US$105 million for flood management and the amount of loan for the repair of irrigation system is yet to be decided, its country director Steven R. Tabor said here on Thursday.
The loan for the repair of irrigation system is estimated between US$400 million and US$600 million depending on the requirement, Tabor said.
He said the loan scheme for flood management is project based lending and loan scheme for the repair of irrigation system is result based lending.
The flood management projects are to be implemented in Jakarta and Ambon and repair of irrigation system would be implemented in 18 provinces where the primary and secondary irrigation systems would be repaired using the loan fund.
The repair of the tertiary systems would be handled by farmers themselves, he said.
Areas where the irrigation systems have not repaired have water only three months a year. After the repair they are expected to have water the whole year, that the farmers could grow second crops.(*)
